Workshop "Lower-Dhünn" in cooperation with the Wupperverband
Within the same project and in cooperation with the NeWater project, Seeconsult, together with the Wupperverband, carried out a workshop with approximately 50 representatives of stakeholders of the Dhünn river basin on the 16th October 2007. The participants were informed about the water development objectives and the new terms required by the EU Water Framework Directive. Moreover, they had the opportunity to put forward their interests and proposals concerning new measures to improve the ecological condition of the Dhünn and its feeders, as well as to discuss them within an informed plenum. Further workshops were conducted in December 2007 and spring 2008. The result of the process was the adoption of a "Document on the Planning of Measures for Water Basin Development" by all participants. Those recommendations were integrated into the planning of future measures of the round table concerned with the Dhünn situated at the regional government in Düsseldorf.
Scenario-Workshop on the Lower-Rhine
Seeconsult conducted the first scenario workshop in April 2007. Representatives of the water management sector, spatial planning and non-governmental organisations participated in this workshop. The main focus was on possibilities for developing the Lower Rhine area, and its consequences for flood protection. A workshop focussing on the development of visions in water management in 2050 (Visioning workshop), preceded the workshop in September 2006. An additional workshop dealing with the concrete evaluation of measures within various scenarios, and under the application of hydrological models, followed in April 2008. In spring 2009 the results will be presented during a final conference.Seeconsult hosted the German stakeholder workshop "Implementing the European Water Framework Directive (2000/60/EC): What are our lessons learnt?" on 31st August 2010 in Hannover. The workshop summarized the results of the international IWRM-Net project i-Five ( www.i-five.org). 15 representatives of the water management resources participated.
