The CO2-Werkstatt project is improving the apprenticeship phase for craftspeople with an emphasis in energy efficiency and CO2 reductions.

The most important step is to strengthen the cooperation between the "Berufsschule" (vocational school) and the Handwerkskammer (chamber of crafts). The apprentice should have the capacity to develop solutions that result in energy savings and reductions in CO2 emissions.

Model of the "Mini-Haus"

The focus of the apprenticeships is on developing practical solutions for common energy installations such as solar collectors on various types of roofs.

The apprentice learns to select and implement optimal alternatives to reduce carbon dioxide.

The project started with the apprentice class 2009, and the plan is to continue the programme in subsequent years.
